Privacy Policy
Version: 13 July 2026
You connect your car to VoltLogger — so you deserve to know exactly what happens to your data. Here it is, without the fine print. The short version: we process only what's needed to keep your mileage and charging records, everything is stored encrypted on EU infrastructure, and we never sell anything. Ever.
Who is responsible
InternetVentures.nl B.V., Maliebaan 53z, 3581 KJ Utrecht, the Netherlands (Chamber of Commerce
/ KvK 42096721) is the data controller under the GDPR.

This website
This website uses no tracking cookies and loads no third-party advertising or analytics services. When you visit, our hosting provider (Cloudflare, EU infrastructure) processes technically necessary connection data (IP address, timestamp, page requested) to serve and secure the site — legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
The app: what we collect and why
Everything below is processed to deliver the service you signed up for — a complete mileage and charging record. Legal basis: performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), unless stated otherwise.
- Account. Your email address and name (via email sign-up, or Sign in with Google or Apple) and session data, so one account works on web and iOS.
- Vehicle data. Through the official Tesla Fleet API (OAuth, read-only access — we never see or store your Tesla password) we read what a record needs: odometer readings, GPS locations and trip routes, charging data (kWh, charge state, power) and vehicle status. We poll the car roughly every 3 minutes while you drive or charge, and far less often when it's parked.
- Addresses. Trip start and end points are turned into a readable address via the Dutch PDOK geocoding service (Kadaster). Only coordinates are sent — never who you are. Places you name yourself (Home, Work) never leave our servers.
- Settings. Your places (geofences), categories, rules and preferences.
- Purchase state. If you subscribe through the iOS app, we process an anonymised linking token and your subscription status. Payment itself is handled entirely by Apple — we never see payment details.
- Diagnostics. A technical log of recent polls (powering the in-app Diagnose screen) and API usage, which is automatically pruned after 90 days.
Where your data lives
All app data is stored encrypted on Cloudflare's EU infrastructure. We don't sell data, show ads, or share anything with third parties beyond the processors listed below.
Processors
- Cloudflare — hosting and database (EU infrastructure).
- Tesla — the source of your vehicle data, via your own Tesla account and the official Fleet API.
- PDOK / Kadaster — turning coordinates into addresses (a public Dutch government service; receives coordinates only).
- Apple — Sign in with Apple and App Store purchases.
- Google — only if you sign in with Google.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account exists. That's deliberate: your mileage record is evidence for the tax authority, and Dutch fiscal retention rules require keeping records for 7 years — a record that deletes itself is worthless. Delete your account and we delete your data. Diagnostic logs are kept shorter (API usage: 90 days).
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), and you can lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in the Netherlands: the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens). In practice: export your data directly in the app (CSV), revoke Tesla access instantly from your own Tesla account, and for deletion of your account and all data, one email is enough.
Changes
When the app changes, this policy changes with it. The version date at the top tells you when that last happened.
